Garroter is a brutal Polish death metal act that shares more in common with the mosh obsessed USDM slam scene than countrymen Vader and Behemoth. Corporal Punishment is their first full-length effort and, while musically not all bad, presents the same basal, scatological gore we've already heard a thousand times, going on a million times. They've not much to add, really, unless you want another "Anal Penetration", "Human Toilet", "Forced to Fuck" or "Cum While I Eat Her". I'll give them a few points for "Dick-Pick Lobotomy", though, as that is a sensitive procedure I've never really followed up on.The music consists of the expected array of chugs and bursts of quicker speed, but the band often likes to 'feel out' their slower grooves to produce even more moshability, as on "Human Toilet" or the Obituary-like slower segments of "Ungodly Mutation". As the album progresses, the tracks begin to get a little more fluid, punchy and mathematical, and this actually produces some of the better music, ala "Dick-Pick Lobotomy" (there it is again!) and "Human Putrefaction". The tone of the record is deep and dark, the drums are not the only percussion here, as the vocals of Doman and the guitars themselves all compete to see which can bludgeon you the hardest. Nothing really stands out here, but not for a lack of competence or brutality.
