Killing Is My Business...and Business Is Good! was an album full of anger and rage, and rightfully so. After being fired/kicked out from Metallica Dave Mustaine wanted to fucking kill everyone and everything. But after Killing Dave calmed down (a bit) and made Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?, easily one of the most influential thrash metal albums of all time.
You have Dave's signature snarling, almost talkative, vocals. Dave and Chris Poland on guitars providing some great solos. David Ellefson's famous and awesome bass lines. Catchy, and sometimes weird, lyrics. You pretty much have it all - except for maybe Marty Friedman.
You have songs like "Wake Up Dead", a cool opener about a guy coming home from a night out with another lady, "The Conjuring" with it's galloping main riff, and "My Last Words" - all songs just filled to the brim with solos.
You have "Bad Omen" which begins with an slow ominous intro that transitions into a solo and the rest of the song, mirroring the lyrics which tells a story about the demon Baphomet coming to a small village and fucking it up. "Devil's Island" which has a great chorus and a cool NWOBHM-inspired solo and the bluesy Willie Dixon cover of "I Ain't Superstitious".
And then you have the songs that show that Dave is still as angry as before, but in a more controlled way. "Good Morning/Black Friday" has lyrics like:
I mangle their faces, till no features remain.
A blade for the butchering, I cut them to shreds.
First take out the organs, then cut off the head.
The remains of flesh now sop under my feet.
But Dave sings the song like a quiet crazy pychopath instead of a angry pissed off drunk - which makes it so creepy and awesome. And finally you have "Peace Sells": the intro, the biting and sarcastic lyrics, the solo - it's probably one of the best metal songs ever recorded. Nuff' said.
What else is there to say? It's fucking Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? It's Megadeth playing 8 tracks of classic Bay Area thrash, just go listen to it already.
Verdict: Epic Win [10/10] (If there's a new way, I'll be the first in line.)
